It was great to speak to Cece Cutsforth, Chair of the Graphic Design program at Portland Community College. She dropped some serious knowledge in her paste-up demo. Stay-tuned to see more when we launch the Kickstarter campaign in February 2015!
I'm really excited to have completed the first interview for Graphic Means, with Pat Castaldo. Pat was around right at the tail end of the paste-up era, and he had some good stories to tell.
Dawn prepares the camera while Pat waits patiently, despite having loads of work to do in this busy season for his business, Buy Olympia.
We had a great time shooting images for the initial title sequence today. Dawn and Emily were on set, with Andi Zeisler on hand model duty.
We're getting close to a full team here, but still need a film/video editor. We strongly encourage women to apply.
A few notes:
Please send a link to a reel if you're interested. Also feel free to share this far and wide.
Thanks!
The Graphic Means Team
Motion designer, Emily Dekovich, who is working on the title sequence for the film, found this amazing treasure up at Columbia Art & Drafting supply here in Portland. WOAH!
I’m looking for folks who did graphic production and design during these decades with the hopes of interviewing them about their tools and processes. To start, I hope to find people in the Pacific Northwest. If you’ve worked with paste-up, hot type setting, rubdowns, photosetting or similar, please get in touch!
I’m hoping to find at least one person who can actually demonstrate some of the processes as well.
